Hot Trough Tutorial

Thank you for your interest in the hot trough!  Like you I’m sure, I searched high and low across the internet for a DIY tutorial on a stock tank hot tub, or a hot trough as we’ve named it.  I found nothing that fit the bill for us.  Eventually, I came up with an idea that seemed like it would work…and it did!

This tutorial is for an electric stock tank hot tub or “hot trough.”  Please know that the this is a prototype and I also wasn’t anticipating making a tutorial when I built it.  As a result, I didn’t take many pictures.  So, this tutorial is more of a guide than a step by step tutorial that covers every last detail.  For example, I in the tutorial, I instruct you to cut two holes with a hole saw.  I do give you the size hole saw I used but I don’t tell you anything else about how to actually cut those holes.  Another example is with the plumbing.  I show a picture of how i plumbed it, I give you a list of parts, but I don’t explain how to use PVC glue or tell you how long to cut your pipes.

Bud don’t worry, I DO answer the two most critical questions: How did I heat this thing and how is it insulated? 

I share with you the exact heater and pump that  purchased as well as links to the majority of the materials you’ll need.
